  1. i think it is fantastic that the italians are getting more involved in rugby. Competing every year in the Six nations will be great for experience, but in essence Italy is really Fotball Fanatic country. How is Rugby rated by the italian people?

  2. In the past all blacks have won 9 of 9 tests v Italy with points 597 for and 96 against. I think Italy have always been a bit scared when playing the all blacks and each game I've seen the all blacks have dominated from the first whistle.

I think the difference is that Italy have always had a fairly strong forward pack and been able to match those northern hemisphere sides. I think the difference comes in the backs where if NZ can (and normally do) gain dominance up front, their backs are the best in the world and score tries from everywhere.

  3. Getting better every year.

  4. Dear Sir,

You have placed 10 question marks behind 'Italian Rugby'.

Firstly, 'Italian Rugby' is not a question.

Secondly, if it were a question, which it is not, 1 question mark would suffice.

The best Italian Rugby player of all time was David Campese, who was born in a small village in Florence.  He had initially wanted to play for Italy but was hounded by Australian authorities threatening to cancel his contract if he did not play for Australia.  They came to a compromise whereby David Campese would play for Australia,  but would give up eating pasta.

  5. im irish but i think that their is only one way that italy is going to go.UP!!!

  6. The Italian are like a weaker version of the Argentinian team in that they are passionate side but too hot and cold int their temperament. One game they be ultra competitive and the next they can be absolute c**p. They seem to be victims of their own temperament in most game starting off well with good systenatic play then going to bits after 20 minutes and completely losing their pattern. They seem to suffer from two different things. One, not enough depth in their domestic ranks and two, too many international players playing within their clubs at domestic level reducing the oppotunities for youbnger palyers to rise hru the ranks to bolster the international team.

  7. oh..i believe in watching their game all i can sat that they have played really well and heaps of improvement..

  8. Bit of a wide open question

  9. I'm not a Kiwi so can't really answer your question but I am Scottish and therefore I'll answer it anyway.

A Six Nations match against Italy sends the fear of God into me nowadays as much as a Calcutta Cup game. There's no animosity between Italy and Scotland but there's no love lost on the park either.

Italy just beat Argentina (with Juan Martin Hernandez) in Cordoba. http://rugbydump.blogspot.com/2008/06/it...

Argentina were ranked 3rd in the world and are no slouches.

I can understand why you're interested in the opinion of a New Zealander because Italy have never worried them but then again, I don't think Scotland have worried New Zealand in my lifetime (I'm 30 soon) either.

Italy needs two or three quality fly-halves and a bit more bite from the pack (although some of their players in the pack are amongst the best in the world in their position) and they will be in a position to do what Wales do to the All Blacks; ie. make them break a sweat before effectively thumping them.

I don't think it's entirely psychological and I do believe that Italy are currently a better rugby team than Scotland but I think it will be quite a long time before Italy beat the All Blacks.
