  1. Yes i can help .If the restaurant is Italian they would know about these foods, now it all depends on how much you are willing to spend so work with the menu . ''Salmone fumigato with a little olive oil and sliced shalots on topas a entre ,maybe some nice mini spicy meatballs in a nice Napoletane sauce ,get those long Italian bread sticks called ''grissini''these are all dishes you could spread out along a table and everybody feasts.Next you could just put a large bowl of pasta oil and garlic ,maybe some white pizza with olive oil and spices, lets see red wine of corse, lupini beans are fun,get some nice hard cheese with some Italian cold cuts ,the list could go on and on.These are items that are different than your tippical American-Italian cuisine .oh yes forgot about the drinks ,chinotto,crodo-crodino,sanpelegrino araciata''orange''''lemon''any ways if you need more info just buzz me Ciao..

  2. forgive my spelling, but gelato (italian ice or ice cream) is really great... italian isnt really about pasta or pizza it is about fresh herbs and ingredients. here are some great italian recipes... enjoy

  3. hi! i'm italian and i can suggest you some "unconventional" things, that are very common here and fit for aperitif:

    - parmigiano reggiano in small pieces, accompanied by honey.

    - bresaola with salad

    - big tomatoes opened on the the top and filled with tuna, mayo and capers

    - of course bruschette, with tomatoes and mozzarella, or just oil, garlic and oregano.

    - grissini (breadstick) wrapped in prosciutto di parma

    - big and tasty (full of oil) green olives

    - cow buffalo mozzarella

and you can drink simply wine, or campari rosso (1/2) and white wine(1/3) (typical of milano area), non alcoholic you can try to buy Chinotto (that's a soft drink made with sour orange, looking and more or less tasting like coke)....have fun!

  4. tirimisu is really good and u can cut it into small pecies ...but check out foodnetwork.com for alot of info and recipes :)

  5. Pizza and pasta is usually used for dinners!

I say you in italian and in your languege

    For a party we use:

    - "bruschetta" (you know) tosted bread with frash tomato, garlic

    - "formaggio con il miele" cubbed cheese (like pecorino or parmiggiano) with honey

-"prosciutto, salame e pane" sliced ham, salami with bread

    - "prosciutto crudo con melone" uncooked ham with melon (the withe one or orange one)

    - "pizza rustica" some cheese cake made by puffpaste around and inside "mozzarella", salami and parmigliano

    - fried potatoes (like pringles and more)

    - peanuts

  6. trattoria, garlic bread wid cheese

    for desert.....tiramisu

  7. You could serve an antipasto platter with Italian cheese and salami, olives, artichoke hearts, drizzled with extra virgin olive oil. also= cannoli and biscoti, Italian ice. for a main dish you could try ravioli, tortellini, baked pasta dishes are also a nice touch.

serve both red and Alfredo sauces if you like, you can buy fresh frozen mussels at walmart that can be steamed, very easy and a real crowd pleaser. good red wine cannot be beat

you must have a red and white checked table cloth, and find some good Italian music from many sources, or just tune your TV if you have satellite to the Italian music channel. and hang some white little twinkly lights around from your Christmas stock.

I have a ton of ideas for your party depending on your budget and set up time, and i can help you with any recipes you may need, feel free to e-mail me back for help.

    good luck and happy birthday.

  8. choclate mousse and lasagna

  9. stuffed eggplant.  pasta with some real nice hommade sauce with sausage and meatballs, maybe some chicken parm, some calamari, friend mozzarella is amazing (not mozzarella sticks, FRIED mozzarella theres a difference-sorta lol)

  10. you know the british like cucumber sandwiches on crustless white bread, well the venetians have their own version called tramezzini, basically small crustless finger sandwiches.

    here's a recipe

    http://www.astray.com/recipes/?show=Tuna...

google for more. OR just make your own favorite dip, it can be anything, including hummus, or smoked salmond, then you spead it into two pieces of bread, panini, or something, cut off the crusts, and cut them into small triangles.

    also....

"cicchetti" is the venice version of italian antipasta, or spanish tapas, or chinese dim sum, or whatever.

they don't have to be italian.  just search for mediterranean dishes, they are close enough in similarity.

mediterranean cuisine = fish, seafood, fresh vegetables, tomatoes, olive oil, salads,
