Italian symbol?

I know that the lion stands for england and the unicorn stands for scotland but is there an animal that represents Italy??

  1. where did you get the idea that a unicorn stands for scotland its a thistle... you are insulting the scots you dont know much do you...

    i bet you think the symbol for wales is a leek..

  3. It's a medium blue shield with a yellow lion on the bottom, curlicues in blue and yellow around the top and sides. A headpiece from a suit of armor at the top of the shield and an eagle with something in it's talons and beak perched on the top.

  4. Old Roman times sometimes used Eagle as imperial totem.  Rome itself sometimes has the 'mother wolf' as symbol. Italy wasn't a country as it is now until about 1860/1870- was until then a loose collection of 'city-states'  with varying independence or control by France or Holy Roman empire/Hapsburg's- City emblems/symbols  varied .  As for other silly commenter-- ever see a Welsh Dragon?
