The Lira (money called in Itally) was the currency of Italian Somaliland between 1925 and ca. 1938. It replaced the Italian Somaliland rupia. Only coins were issued, in denominations of 5 and 10 lire. These circulated alongside Italian coins and banknotes. From 1938, banknotes of the Italian East African lira also circulated.

But bring some US currency too just in case besides your credit cards.

  6. There is no longer a thing called "italian money" : it's the EURO, caro!
