Italy, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 battle it out on the financial front - part 2
In this battle of European football finances, Spain also edges past Italy.
Spanish Primera Division’s match day revenue figures are headed by Real Madrid.
Admittedly, Los Blancos are one of the biggest football clubs in the world. This allowed them to accumulate €129.1m from their match day revenues. A total of 30 percent of Real Madrid’s total revenue is made up of their match day profits.
Barcelona, who won the Spanish Primera Division in 2009-2010 only pull in €97.8m from their match day earnings. This makes up for 25 percent of their total profits.
Atletico Madrid compiled €35.9m from their match day revenue, which makes up for 29% of their total earnings. These figures are more than what the top two in Italian football i.e. A.C. Milan and Inter Milan earn through their match day departments, which
is €31.3m and €38.6m respectively.
Moreover, Serie A lags behind the English Premier League and the Spanish Primera Division when it comes to average match day attendances, which is a major source of income in the match day revenue department.
Nonetheless, Italian football can spur a revival of its own in two ways. Firstly, Italian football association must take a much more principled stance against the hooliganism that prevails in Italian football.
Italian fans have grown fond of an aggressive approach towards opposing fans which is an unhealthy trend as far as the overall atmosphere of Italian football is concerned.
Secondly, teams such as Juventus are already on their way to changing stadiums. Juventus’s new stadium, Stadio Delle Alpi is almost complete and it is expected that the Bianconeri will shift to their new home ground in the 2011-2012 season.
This will allow Juventus to gather more capital from gate receipts, which are a major source of income on match days. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympic-c40122 stadium does not provide them with a rich enough atmosphere due
to the running track that surrounds the playing field.
Inter Milan’s victory in the 2009-2010 UEFA Champions League final allowed Italy to gain precedence over http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 in the UEFA coefficients of the 2011-2012 club football season. Thus, four Italian teams have a chance to participate in next year’s UEFA Champions
League.
If http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 had failed in the final of the 2010 UEFA Champions League, then that opportunity would have gone to the teams in Bundesliga.
More European football for the teams in Serie A means more match day income as fans will pour into the stadiums when UEFA Champions League matches take place in mid-week. Simply put, football is not entirely about what happens on the pitch, off the field
economic matters matter a lot as well. All in all, a recipe for Italian football’s reconstruction is available, now an appropriate chef is needed to cook it up.
