  1. Sorry to be rude, but the Roman Catholic church has it's own country within Italy and you're asking what the major religion is???  You can't possibly have even cracked an atlas.

Vatican City is the smallest recognized 'country' in the world and is guarded by the Swiss Army.

  2. leather, olives oil, wine, fruit and vegetable.

pasta like spaghetti lasagna, tortellini ravioli tagliatelle riso gnocchi.

    meat and fish

mountain sky in north of italy like in the regions of trentino alto adige, val d'aosta.

sea side like region of liguria, emilia romagna.

    or in sardegna e sicilia.

people don't wear traditional clothing anymore

    most italian are roman catholics

    foot ball

  3. Since this is a research project, here are two great general sources of information available to you:

    https://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/fac...

    and

    www.wikipedia.org

Having just returned from a trip to Italy (two weeks) I can tell you that agriculture is one of the major natural resources available and used by Italians to send to the rest of the world, particularly wine and olive oil.  most of the olive oil consumed in the world comes from Italy, Spain, California, and Australia.  Specialty products such as blown decorative glass comes from Murano (by Venice) and lace for clothing, housewares, and tapestries are handmade in Burano (also near Venice).  By some estimates, 60% of the art and statuary of antiquity is still in Italy.  They love their futbol (soccer to us Yanks).  Most of the country's residents are Roman Catholic, although most religions of the world are represented because of the important trade Italy still conducts with the rest of the world.  Tourism is a HUGE source of income for the Italians.

    Hope this helps

  4. natural resources: everything, italy produces grains, tomatoes, fruit (of course not the tropical one),olive, oil,butter,meat,fish,vegetable.. etc.. is common to think that if it isn't italian isn't so good,healty...

about food, well... it depedens about region, i mean, the national food is pasta of course, is made everywhere...but it made in very different way according to the region...ex: lasagna, tortellini and ragù(called bolognese in US) is from north-east region called EmiliaRomagna( where can found the city of Bologna)..

around Rome is famous a pasta called "amatriciana","puttanesca" and a sauce made with tomatoes and red hot peppers.

in south is very common eat pasta with vegetable ( broccoli, cime di rapa). best pizza is in Naples, is thin with tomatoes and  mozzarella as base, and that put evething you wants on it (never pineapple !!!). is used to eat vegetable dressed with extravirgin olive oil, salad dressed just with oil, salt and winegar( if balsamic is better)...

is traditional meat cooked on grill (bistecca) dressed just with salt....

sweets are artigianal gelato, tiramisu, torta(pie) with fruit or chocolates...

just some examples,to much to say..

    holidays:

1 gen first day of year; 6 gen Befana (3 kings),it is like santa claus but she is an old woman and give you sweets...; easter; 25 april :(giorno della liberazione)liberation day(from fascism in 1945); 1 may workers day; (mum and dad day..); 2 june republic holiday; 15 august ferragosto; 1 november(all saints);24-25-26 december (xmas), 31 dec last day ofthe year...

more, every city has his own saint to protect the city, in the day of the saint in this city is holidays (ex: I live in Turin, protector of Turin is Saint Giovanni,so 24 june is holyday..with fireworks..)

    Religion is one: roman catholic

Sport: mmm...soccer, soccer and soccer... just kiddind...is soccer, soccer and F1 (not kidding this time)

traditional clothing... if you mean what we wear now is exactly what you wear.

    Thanks.

  6. ive been living here in italy for the last 4 years, i can give you an idea of how it is here in answering all of your questions.

first of all what the guy before me said, is all true, he practically summed it all up.

here in italy they use their own natural resources, i mean completely. do you know what i mean? there is almost absolutely no foreign products (reffering to food) that is brought in from somewhere else. here in italy they grow themselves their own food, vegetables, fruits, dairy products ecc... i never really noticed this unitl recently. i went to visit spain last year and as i walked into one of their supermarkets i almsot flipped. almost every single one of their products where either italian or american. like the tropicana organge juice, or the nabisco cookies, or the corn flakes cereal, ecc...and for a long time i was already adapted to not living with the things i loved (american products) thinking, they were just simply not transported over seas...thats what i had figured...but then seeing all of this, it wasnt making sense, how could all these products be transported to spain and not to italy???

on my trip in spain, i had rented a car with my bf to go from madrid up north to sant ander. we figured it woudl be a nice trip to stop in every little town (like you would easily do in italy). as we drove on a 5 hour drive, we didnt hit NOT ONE single town. they were either deserted towns or dead vegetation. but looking closer it made more sense...their dirt was practically red and hard. as i recalled..when i was on plane arriving to spain i had noticed a lot of homes with swimming pools, but the swimming pools where not placed under ground, they were placed above ground...you know what that all meant? their soil in practically a good % of spain is unagricultural...the red dirt must be hard as rock not permitting this vegetation....

but in italy, its the complete opposite, their soil is perfect for any type of vegetation..and that is the reason why in spain, they are in need of products to either foreign or not while in italy they dont and if they can server themselves, thats the better for their own society.

i live in florence, its very popular here that they grow olives usually for olive oil and its also very common to bump into grape vines for the wine. in the south of italy, around naples, its common the red oranges (extremly good!!) and the lemons as well as the other typical fruits.

what is not very common to eat here in italy (which i hate) is chicken. for some wild wild reason they dont eat it as much as americans do. i mean ive asked this question in yahoo before in italian to italians and all of them replyed, 'what are you talking about? we eat chicken! we eat chicken!' but i guess they dont realize what it really means to EAT chicken like americans do. plus here they are small and tasteless. they tend eat more rabbit meat and its popular as well as the T-bones. its a florentine dish, the t-bones, which they call the Bisteca. look it up.

Holidays...its funny but they have bazzilions of holidays through out the year. its usually over some saint celebrated. but its funny because sometimes when i ask my italian bf, 'there's no work today? cool, whats the holiday about?' and he would reply, 'oh, some saint, i dont know...' and i thought for a minute it was just him, but asking some of my friends, they said the same thing...wierd. and there are many of these holidays. one cool thing about holidays is that after new years they celebrate the La Buffana..i dont know if thats how its spelled. its from new years until the 5th or 6th of january. i really dont know the story behind it but look it up. they dont go back to work until they 5th.

oh and also ALL of august, all italians go on vacation. seriously, the only buisiness that remain open are either tourist stores or supermarkkets. even movie theaters close down UNLESS they are close to the beach. all italians go to the beach durring the summer or head to the mountain for vacation.

clothing, the italians are very unique in that aspect. they are top top designers when it comes to clothing design. i never realized this but a couple of years ago when i got back, my sister commented on the shirt i was wearing. i had bought it in italy, it was no big thing, but it had a different style. she looked at me and said, 'you know that the design of the shirt your wearing, no one here in the us has yet?' i didnt get it,  so she said,'almost of the clothes designs in italy take about 1 year before the style moves in to the states, you guys are ahead...' i stopped and looked around (we were inside a macy's that instant) and noticed that all the designs there were old, the ones i had seen long before in italy.

Relgion, its an obvious answer, the big majority are roman catholics. they remain very traditional to their life style. its a different going to a catholic mass in teh states verse a mass here in italy. (iam catholic myself). in the states, the masses are more lively and chearful, they provide more activities for the community and help the poor. here in italy things are more serious and stern. its a not bad thing, but its an everyday tradition. i noticed though one thing...that when your in mass here in italy, and its time to donate money, people here in italy give only euro coins...no 5 euro bills, no 10 euro bills...when i was back in calif. during mass, people would give checks of money, 5$ dollar bills, even 20's and it was common. i dont know whether this is a good thing or a bad thing, but here in italy its normal.

favorite sports, soccer. nothing else goes around other than soccer. you see and hear about on tv every single day, not kidding, EVERY SINGLE day. and i notice here in italy, men are either with it or not, there isnt such a guy that would say, 'oh yeah, i kinda watch it'. no its either they are in it or they arent it. my bf is in it and there isnt not one single day that he cannot hear about who scored what, and what team plays against who, and when did he do that score...and blabla...so its a big issue here in italy.

ok, i hope i gave you a gooood insite on how italian life is. im sure i didnt cover a lot of sections but this can give a good start.
