  1. I'm from Turin too...and I can tell you that here in Italy the food is different from yours because here is made without strange substances or less than yours!!

  2. the food in Italy is for enjoying and savouring sauces are devine. in America food is only for eating

  3. orla: pizza with pineapple? where did u eat it???? in italy???

italy's sause tastes good! better then american's.

  4. Tomato Sauce in Italy is SOO much better then in America.  Alot of it is homemade, and has so many different flavors.  And that just doesn't go for tomato sauce, all Italian food is different in Italy.  In American, Italian food is very Americanized.

  5. I'm italian, from Turin...

Well, I don't know exactly how is the tomato sause in the usa, unluckily i've never been there.. =(

I just now that our tomato souse is done with tomato, marjoram or basil, a bit of salt and sometimes you can add some dark olives... then you can add also some onions and some hot peppers...

Ok, now you got me hungry... it's almost dine hour here.. ehehe =p

    ciao stellina

  6. Italian tomato sauces are usually homemade and have so many different flavourings. Arabbiata is very spicy, and delicious. Bolognaise is with minced beef, what you'd call ground beef. But many places do a simple tomato sauce using the tomatoes and whatever vegetables and herbs are available locally, and they are all absolutely delicious. Many pasta dishes are available entirely without the tomato sauce, like pasta alla carbonara (with bacon, egg and cheese). It's very easy to make a simple but delicious tomato sauce from scratch.

While we're on the subject of Italian food in Italy, it's common to get a pizza without cheese, and sometimes with fruit like pineapple, which sets off any ham or other meat beautifully. Pizza without cheese is pizza marinara or sailors' pizza, because cheese wouldn't really work with fish or whatever else sailors would throw on their pizza.
