The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Republic-of-Ireland-c2987 national team head coach has given his wishes to the Azzurri after watching his side crash out of the European Championship without a win.
The Italians were sweating over their qualification into the quarter-finals of the Europe, as they knew that a victory might not be enough to get them into the next round of the Championship. A 1-1 result between Croatia and Spain would have ensured Italy’s
elimination from the tournament regardless of a victory against the Irish.
There was still an air of tension after the Italians secured the victory courtesy of a goal apiece by their strikers, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mario-Balotelli-c23937. There was a huge uproar after the result in Gdansk filtered through Stadion Miejski.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926 were the superior side on the night, and besides a handful of shots on goal, Ireland did not put the Italians in any real danger. Having seen his team go out of the tournament, Trap believed that the Italians have a real chance of going the distance
in this edition of the European championship.
In the post-match, Trapattoni stated that there were many strong teams going out of the tournament which meant that the Italians had enough about them to have a great competition. He also commended his team for their performance in the match. He was quoted
to have said:
“If certain strong sides are going home, this means that Italy have the quality to go right through to the end of the tournament. “I think this evening we played much better than the games against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Croatia-c2879. We played with more personality, credibility,
commitment.”
There have been increasing reports of players reportedly pondering over retirement from international football, and the Italian was asked how he felt about that. He further went on to state that this was probably because of their results in this edition
of the European Championship. The former Juventus manager also went on to state that it is too soon to be making such decisions. He mentioned:
“Now is too early, but I can also say to you that I spoke just now with one or two. We'll see again in the next friendly game in August. Maybe in this moment they are disappointed. This is in the air, so maybe it is better if they wait to see what happens.”
The Boys in Green have a friendly in August and Trapattoni has signed a contract extension which sees him remain as the head coach till the 2014 World Cup.
