Rossi recently had a knee surgery and is reckoned to be out for 6 months, while Cassano underwent a heart surgery and won't be returing to the pitch any time soon.
The tactician was talking to Rai Sports after the game and praised the striker’s performance which came at a time when it was needed the most.
"Balotelli's performance means a lot to us, and in addition to the goal he was always in the game. Congratulations to Mario, as he played well."
Prandelli was also pleased with his side's efficiency on the night, but admitted to his team's shortcomings in the first half. The tactician believes that Poland were strong competitors in the first half, but the Italians picked up pace in the second period
and found ample opportunities to find the back of the net.
"It is important to continue maintaining our balance. Poland is a strong team, and we could not initially find the breakthrough, but as the minutes passed we were able to find more opportunities, and we played well overall,” concluded the tactician.
