The Azzurri chief has stressed upon the need for the Italian clubs to extend their contributions to the national team, and believes that they should start developing their next generation of stars.
Cesare Prandelli has highlighted the importance of new talent, and has insisted that they should start looking for replacements of their stars like Andrea Pirlo in order to sustain their level of performances.
The Azzurri lost the final of Euro 2012 to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011, and the Italian tactician was quick to use the opportunity to reiterate his anger on the lack of support from clubs.
Prandelli stated that while he hopes that Pirlo stays on for another couple of years, the team must start looking for young talent that can fill in the shoes of the ageing star.
The Nazionale manager stressed upon the need for the Italian clubs to give the budding stars adequate exposure at the European stage, in order to turn them into formidable assets for the country.
“We have to try to find players who have the potential to take over from people like Andrea Pirlo, even if I hope the latter plays on for two more years. We need a player who in two years will be ready, but if that player doesn’t play European football then how can he grow?”
Prandelli went on to voice his dissatisfaction for the inadequacies of time that he gets to train with his players, and insisted that he needs to be in constant touch with the players to see how they are growing.
The Azzurri manager pointed out that a coach can do little when he does not get adequate time with his squad.
“We want to work with these players and see how they are progressing at two month intervals. If I only have three training sessions every eight months then I’m not sure that I will be good enough.”
