Has any one ever been to Matera Italy? or live there? or can tell me a little about it? I've done some resurch about it online, but i would like to know more on like a personal experience level. In Matera, do they speak the regular dialect of italian? Do alot of people live there? From what iv'e seen its looks like its poor conditions of living, but i'm not sure if it possibly has modernized more over the year.

  1. matera.. matera.. let me think..

i had a friend who was born in matera, is in basilicata, if i am right, no?

I think the condition of living are quite normal, maybe they have the same difficoult that all the south of italy has, nor work, nor money, but not so tragic

    :)

they sure speack correct italian, maybe with local accent, but they sure can understand what you say in italian, maybe the old man can speack only dialect like in all other places of the world

    :)

try these two sites, the first is in english, the second in italian, i will translate it for you if you would, but i think the board is clearly

    :)

    bye bye

  2. Hi, I'm Italian, Matera is Nice but in Italy there are some cities more interesting like Rome, Florence, Milan and Venice. Matera is not poor but it is a old city.. They speak another kind of italian dialect but if you speak in normal italian they understand you. Good Travel!
