Paolo Di Canio has reflected on the importance of the role of fatigue in the ongoing Euro 2012, and believes that the European tournament is a huge physical challenge for the players after a tiring season.

Di Canio pointed out that playing in the heat of summer right after the labours of a draining season poses a challenge on the fitness and fatigue of the participants, and affects their performance in the tournament.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lazio-c39775 player stressed that it is difficult to play game after game against quality sides, and maintain the optimum level of performance in every match.
While talking to the press, the 43-year-old said:
“It's hot and it has been a long season for the players. There are some high-tempo moments but, after a long season, it's hard to run, press together and counter-attack in numbers for 95 minutes at the top level.”
Di Canio then turned his attention towards the upcoming quarter-final clash between the two giants of European football.
The Swindon Town coach was adamant that the match between Italy and England will be closely contested, and predicted that there is every possibility that the game will go beyond the 90 minutes.
The former West Ham United player advised that both opponents must aim for the spectacular in order to seal their place in the semi-finals of Euro 2102.
Di Canio stressed that the European tournament comes only once after every four years, and urged the players to make most of the rare opportunity, and give their all to make it a memorable experience for them.
“It will be a balanced game and there is a big possibility the game will go to extra-time. The big chance that you have to get to the semi-final is to do something special. Euro 2012 is a very short tournament and it could be a game they remember for the rest of their lives.”
