Italy tour book?

Who can tell me what is the name of the book that most of the tourist buy in italy, where tells you step by step how to get to another atraction and also gives you the history.

I found pretty much all the tour books you can buy at street vendors of tourist information centers carry the same information of highlights, walking tours, important tips.  I normally get one that has nice maps and photo's.

I live in Italy and I still use Frommer's. I've tried different books but Frommers seems like its the best one with the most information and correct information. I love my Frommer's book of Italy.

There are so many different guide books that I don't think there is any one that most tourists buy. The Eyewitness Travel Guides are very good, but fairly heavy for carrying around. Corriere Della Sera published an excellent series of books called City Book, but they're in Italian - I use them frequently. Rick Steves, Fodors, the Green Guides, and Lonely Planet all have good guide books out.

I travel frequently on weekends and just go to the train station news kiosk when I arrive in a new town and pick the guide that looks like it has reasonable detail and fits in my pocket.

You might also look for the travel magazine Bella Italia if you can read Italian.
