Italy’s Francesco Bruni and America’s Anna Tunnicliffe on top in ISAF World Match Racing rankings
After an impressive performance at the 2011 Agro Group Gold Cup, Italy’s Francesco Bruni grabbed top spot in the recently revised International Sailing Federation (ISAF) World Match Racing rankings. On the other hand, America’s Anna Tunnicliffe retained
her top spot in the Women Match Racing rankings as she kept her performance up to the mark.
Bruni leapfrogged Great Britain’s Ian Williams to hit the top rank for the first time after his team finished third in the recent 2011 Agro Group Gold Cup. Before that, the Italian held second rank for the last three ranking releases. Bruni nudged the Briton
down after a superb performance in the Petit Final, knocking off Phil Robertson of New Zealand.
Australia’s Torvar Mirsky showed an excellent performance in the Agro Gold Cup by winning the event. He is currently on second rank followed by the former leaderboard, Ian Williams, at third place. Williams tumbled down in the rankings due to low form in
Bermuda, as he lost in the quarter-final stage at the hands of Robertson.

3. Ian Williams GBR = 11551 points

Meanwhile, Anna Tunnicliffe defeated Julie Bossard in the final encounter of Santa Maria Cup to retain her top rank with 11418 points. The ISAF Rolex World ‘Sailor of the Year’ has had a terrific year, as she has grabbed 10 event victories out of 12 events
she has sailed in. Claire Leroy of France finished on second place with 11174 points followed by Sally Barkow on third with 10785 points.
