Italy’s Simon Sivitz Kosuta and Jas Farneti hold on to overall lead at 2012 470 Junior Worlds
Day 3 of the 2012 470 Junior Worlds witnessed some exciting sailing performances on Waitemata waters as Italian sailing duo comprising of Simon Sivitz Kosuta and Jas Farneti continued their dominance over the fleet. The Italian pair sailed impressively during
the third day proceedings and proved their class with two bullets to remain on top with five points after six races, including a discard.
The third day of the 2012 470 Junior Worlds, which is hosted by Takapuna Boating Club in Auckland, New Zealand, was filled with moderate winds and interesting competitions in both 470 Men/Mixed fleet and Women fleet. The sailors had a perfect sail on Waitemata
waters with races between the Waitemata shore and the Rangitoto Island.
Weather forecast showed the presence of a lower breeze in the very beginning of the day and the fleet had to commence the first race under lighter winds that were approximately up to six knots. A low and cool south westerly wind dominated the race course
which made the race committee delay the proceedings a bit but it was not troubling for the participants.
After the finish of Race 1 and start of Race2, the anticipated north easterly sea breeze covered the racing area and sailors launched their boats into the Waitemata waters to finish the second race. Sivitz Kosuta and Farneti clinched the fleet lead in the
very first moment under the north easterly breeze that blew around from 10 to 15 knots.
The duo hit the top spot in both races to retain their overall lead. New Zealand's James Turner and Finn Drummond managed to claim the second spot with 19 points while Australia's Matthew and Robert Crawford made their way to the third podium finish with
23 points.
