I started develping this rash on my breast last week and it's been getting worse but I don't see any pimples or anything well maybe just a couple of little ones. Today I noticed I've got a few bigger pimples on both my tighs and a couple on my stomach but smaller but they're not as itchy. I am worried that it's spreading ...has anyone experienced this or does anyone know what this is. My family doctor was clueless and my obstetrician is away on holidays for two weeks! I just started my 22nd week. Help plz?

  1. Go to a dermatologist I hear some women form a type of rash while pregnant.

  2. I asked my midwife about rashes during my last visit.  She said, as long as the rash is accompainied with an itch its generally fine and just an estrogen rash.  If you have an rash that isn't itchy and is painful you should get it checked out immediately.

Kinda sounds like you just have pimples or acne though?

  3. ya, ive experienced it. No i dont know what it is. It started on my tummy and i scratched it and it spread all  over. My ob said to get Benadryl (not helpful at all as to what it could be) the stuff seems to work if i could stop cratching and let it heal.

  4. you should call your doctors office. just because shes on vacation doesnt mean the office is closed. im sure there are nurses there or another doctor on call that can help you

  5. It could be PUPPS. This rash, typically begins in stretch marks on the belly, and can quickly spread to your arms, legs, and butt. I would definelty try to see your OB as soon as you can. I had this when I was pregnant. I got it around 28 weeks. It didnt go away until after I had the baby. At first I used ice packs and that seemed to help but after awhile it got worse and my OB had to perscribe me steroids to help with it. I hope you feel better! I know how much it sucks to feel pregant and then to have an annoying itchy rash that wont go away on top of that.

  6. I had that too and I think its just weird pregnancy stuff but if you can get it checked out by another OB, worth a try.  I wouldn't be too freaked out though.

  7. Prurigo gestationis

Another harmless but potentially annoying pregnancy rash is called prurigo of pregnancy, or prurigo gestationis, which appears as many tiny bumps that look like bug bites, usually on the hands, feet, arms and legs, although they can develop anywhere on the body. Prurigo of pregnancy can occur any time during your pregnancy, but it is more common during the second half and affects about 1 in 300 pregnant women. Although there is no cure for the condition, the itching can be relieved with topical cortisone or antihistamines and the rash usually resolves soon after delivery.

I personally can't say for sure if this is what you're experiencing, but it's the closest I can find according to your symptoms.  Check the website for other pregnancy related rashes.  Best Wishes

  8. When I was 36 weeks pregnant i go a rash on my buttocks and each day it spread. They were like mossie bites or like hives but much itcher. It spread down my legs over the weeks and right to my toes and it also spread along my arms. I had to get up in the middle of the night several times for cold showers to relieve the itchiness. However minutes after the baby was born the itch ceased and the rash completly gone when my son was 2 weeks old. My doctor said it was a pregnancy rash and 1 in 250,000 get it. I never got it with my second child. I just had to use lots of calamine.

  9. You can get a lot of rashes whilst pregnant one in particular which is caused by the hormones (they think) I have that one and it will flare up every now and then and drive me crazy. A steroid ointment helps with these flare ups which your dr can prescribe and is safe for use in pregnancy. There are a few nasties you can get but your dr would (or should) know if you had anything dangerous. Try another dr for another opinion or a dermatologist or if you are able to wait for your ob then do that. Unless your dr is completely braindead I wouldn't imagine it's anything that's going to harm you or your baby, just a nuisance
