My daughter has a bad diaper rash.. Im sure this question has been asked a million times.. but what the h**l.. She has had diaper rashes before but this one is kicking my butt.. Its only been a few days..(after getting over one a little over a week ago...)but Its really bugging her.. When I change her diaper she rubs her butt side to side on whatever shes laying on to scratch it.. and she has been fussy ALL day... I bought new wipes.. I blewdry her butt after her bath last night.. Im using diaper rash cream.. Ive also used Nystatin cream just in case it was a yeast infection..Ive been using diaper rash cream.. Doesnt seem to be helping much..sometimes the redness will go away.. but then it just comes back.. She hard..Just scratched it so much she now has a scratch between her butt cheeks (that is gonna hurt :(..)

She also has a rash on her face

I have tried Hydrocortisone cream cant tell if its helped much.

How do I help her! AND ME!!

  1. If its bad...i would give her butt a good washing with good ole soap and water (you know, a nice warm bath w Johnsons&Johnsons) dry her up, and then leave her naked for as long as you can stand it...let her rear be open and air dry.  then, use desetin, that stuff works really well.

you gotta air dry the bottom though, its the best medicine.

  2. I wouldn't give hydrocortisone cream unless a Dr said to.  It is a steriod... Poor thing, I would try to wipe her with a washcloth and water only.  Let her air dry for awhile it possible.  If nothing is working, take her to s Dr.  Or call a nurse and get advice.

  3. Has she eaten anything new?  It is possible that she could have a food allergy.

  4. It could be a yeast infection, or she could be allergic to something you are using: either the diaper, the rash cream, or the wipes.  Try using hypoallergenic wipes and natural diapers and rash cream all without fragrance.   The hydrocortisone sounds like a good idea if its an allergy.  I recommend Lansinoh rash cream and use sensitive huggies or pampers wipes.  Also, I have heard Huggies diapers are notorious for causing rashes in sensitive babies.  Until it goes away I would recommend only diapers with no fragrance like natural, cloth, or store brands usually dont have fragrance.  My sons cousin broke out with Huggies but was able to use pampers just fine (which is weird because it has more fragrance).  Also, after applying rash cream, apply lots of corn starch in her diaper (you can find it in the baking aisle).  Have you let her go diaperless?  That works miracles.  Just be sure to have something to protect the matress and be prepared for a big mess in the morning.

  5. I just went through this a few weeks ago. What I did was let her run around with no diaper on so that it can stay dry.( I have tile floors, so pee was no issue). If you know her poo schedule then put a diaper on till she does her business, then off with the diaper.

I never used baby wipes on her, instead I washed everytime in the sink with leukwarm water and a soft cloth. Then make sure it is totally dry. Very tiring, but worth it.

I used the baby powder with no scent added, just cornstarch.

I also used the AD ointment on her not the cream. Not all day, because it must stay dry.

Remember just keep it dry as possible, after a full day of doing this it shouldn't be so bad at night.

My poor baby was crying because she couldn't go to sleep cause it was so itchy. And your baby must be going through the same thing. I hope this helps.

Every time after you see just one small red spot just put the AD ointment on there a soon as possible and that will help prevent it from getting so bad.

Oh, yeah this could go as long as a week so prepare yourself.

    YOU CAN DO IT!!!

  6. Are you sure it's not fungul? Have you seen the commercials they have for this Rx stuff called Vusion? Our doc gave us a sample of it when my girl had some serious rash issues and it disappeared overnight. Literally. That stuff was awesome.

  7. I used to leave my daughters nappy off for a little while just to let it breathe, and have you tried a powder? Powders are great cause with a cream she would still be moist in her nappy. And sometimes with a nappy rash you can then inturn get a lil heat rash cause the red skin is generating heat...I would try to leave her without a nappy after she has just wet one and then she will have some time to let it dry out and then try a powder if not then i would take her back to the doctor, after you have tried everything and it still doesnt work they will have to do more then just send you away with some cream again.

  8. Try using some diluted ACV (apple cider vinegar).

    Or coconut oil.

I also found this from a lady in Wyoming:

"I have found Mylanta poured on a bottom clears up diaper rash over night, as well as soreness from diahrea. My dr. told me about this when my now 3 yr old was 8 months old...I've used it ever since. When baby has severe rash from diahrea simply put them in the sink or tub w/ just enough water to cover bottom and add mylanta...let them soak for a bit, then pat dry pour in diaper and let them go to bed...will be nearly to completely gone by morning."

  9. My nana always told me cornstarch. I swear by it too. Always clear up my little boys in a flash

  10. try A+d.Its a good diaper rash medicine you could find at your local walmart or pharmacy. This is what i use on my daughter.good luck!

  11. Try this....

Coat her bum with vaseline.  Then a HEAVY layer of diaper cream.

Make sure to wash it all of with every diaper change.

  12. my daughter had VERY VERY bad nappy rash when she was a bub so bad that her bum was red raw and bled i tried every cream i could find for it and what was really good for her was sudocrem then a bit of johnsons baby powder(the sensative one) sprinkled over the cream, it healed within a week.

I've done this with both my older kids and it works everytime.

  13. My kids doctor told me to use maylox..It is supposed to nuetralize the acid down there.. It really helped although I thought he was crazy.. Just buy the store brand kind, and shake it really well and apply it with a cotton ball..let it dry before you put on any other ointments or what ever..It really seemed to releive my kids whenever they had diaper rash..good luck=)

  14. You must try Butt paste, they sell it in pharmacy, Target, Walmart. It's awesome. I would also keep the diaper off when she has the cream on so her bottom can breathe.
