Itchy eyes problem?

my eye looks as it always does except all of the sudden last night it just started itching really badly. I took two benadryl thinking it was some kind of allergy but when I woke up this morning it still itched. So then bought some eye drops for itchy eyes and the first time I put them in it didn't really seem to do anything and then the second time I used it, it stung my eye very badly. Also sometimes it will stop itching for like twenty minutes and then itch again. Anyone have any idea whats wrong with me?

I know we all have the urge to itch our eyes at times, but it really is not recommended because it damages your cornea. What I normally do is splash my eyes with cold water after througouly washing my hands. If you rub your eye when your hands are not clean, it may cause more itching.

it sounds like something to do with hayfever, i have had itchy eyes for a while before and it is annoying i know, but it does go away soon enough.
