It’s a busy schedule for the Kentucky Oaks winner, Rosie Napravnik
After making history in the Kentucky Oaks, rider Rosie Napravnik, becoming the first female jockey to win the Oaks, the female rider didn’t have enough time to celebrate her biggest achievement thus far, as she flew back to New York to ride in 5 races in
the Belmont Park’s card.
Aloof of the Kentucky Oaks aftermath, Rosie Napravnik asked her public relations manager, Kelly Wietsma, to enlighten her of what went down by sending her the links of the articles and photos of the Oaks.
Sleep deprived, Napravnik responded to duty when she mounted 5 rides, and out of 5 winning won. She along with the 5 to 1 shot, I’ll Stake U, in the $100,000 Times Square division of the New York Stallion, and defeated the 2 to 5 favoured shot, Sportswriter.
Regardless of that single win, Napravnik still stands third at the rider standings with seven wins under her built out of 42 races altogether.
Rosie Napravnik was supposed to ride in the Kentucky Derby as well, but her ride, Mark Valeski, the 3-year-old colt was scratched from the race to participate in a scheduled start at Belmont Park in the Peter Pan Stakes.
Mark Valeski needed a work before the race, and Napravnik was out again riding the colt to a five furlong drill which he completed in 59.66 seconds.
It was a feeling that Napravnik got prior to the Oaks, as she said, it felt good over Believe You Can in the post parade that she said to herself that she will win the race.
“I loved this filly since first time I sat on her, and I had ultra-confidence with her every time, and she really continues to impress me,” said Napravnik, who is 3 for 4 aboard Believe You Can. I told a few people somehow in the post parade I felt I’m going
to win this I just know I’m going to, so it wasn’t like a big surprise or unexpected win. It was just unbelievable. It was one of those dream-come-true sort of things.”
Napravnik’s next big race is the Grade 2 Peter Pan Stakes on 12 May when she rides Mark Valeski.
