‘It’s a massive victory’: Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas admires ‘quality’ first leg against Barcelona
Arsenal captain, Cesc Fabregas, has termed the first leg of the round of last 16 in the Champions League against Barcelona as arguably the best game he has been involved in.
Arsenal took on Barcelona at the Emirates on 16 February, 2011 after being drawn against them in the Champions League. After an exciting ‘tale of two halves’, the Gunners emerged victorious as the night ended with a 2-1 score line in favour of the home team.
Commenting on the 90 minutes of football, the Arsenal No.4 went as far as to rate the game between the two clubs better than his exploits in the Euro finals of 2008 and the FIFA World Cup 2010 with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011.
Fabregas claimed that the night at the Emirates was easily his best experience on the football field in terms of the overall quality on show and the determination of all 22 players to make a game out of it. Further stressing on magnitude of the game, the
Spaniard said,
“They had the ball, they went for it. We had the ball, we went for it. For me I've never experienced a game with so much quality with me being on the pitch, by both teams - And of course with the right result as we won. It's a massive victory.”
Touching on the North London club’s prospects in other competitions this year, the Arsenal playmaker said:
“We are happy because now we have the FA Cup, the final of the Carling Cup, we have the league where we are alive. We have so many games and we hope this win will give us confidence for those matches that lie ahead.”
Looking ahead at the return fixture, Fabregas was confident that his side has learnt from its past mistakes and is ready to play at what he regards as one of the most happening football surface in the world: Camp Nou.
