  1. Yes, you can go to your council and apply to be a Lone Scout.  You will still be able to participate in council and district wide events and camp outs and obtain ranks.  It will be harder, but it is available.

  2. No the point is teamwork and cooperation. You can't do it alone.

  3. Can't say I really understand the question: what are you actually asking because it isn't clear to me!

Anyone, home-educated or schooled, may do their own activities, projects, learning at home but home-educated scouts are *not* doing anything different from any other scouts; they join (and participate in) the exact same Scouting Organisations as schooled kids do.

Having said that tho, some kids here do Scouts (and other group activities) at home; Scout meetings etc go over the radio*. That's the same for ALL Scouts, be they home-educated, privately educated, tutored, distance-educated, in school or anything else.

(*or, increasingly these days, over the web)

  4. wait why would you do boy scout's at home you can't go camping at home.

  5. my boyfriend and all the boys in his family were boyscouts. they were all homeschooled. his dad is actually the leader of the troop. a few of them made eagle. so I am going to say, yes you can.

  6. no.  You need to be in a troop because some of the requirements for certain merit badges.. well you just can't do on your own.. besides you need the help of the leaders to show you how to do everything

also.. what fun is camping at home.. by yourself?

  7. no. im pretty sure the point is to get you involved in teamwork and community service and things like that... why would you want to do it alone anyways? that'd be boring.

  8. You can work independently towards merrit badges at home in your spare time. I remember my older brothers worked on their Eagle requirements at home and worked on some of the earlier stuff like knots and using a saw with my dad, but they still had to attend meetings, court of honor, camps, retreats, and so on.  That's the point of boy scouts. It's an extracurricular activity. Why would you want to do it at home? You're there to learn from your scout masters and troop leaders and peers who are ahead of you and to help teach and encourage those behind you. You're there to get involved in the community and to actually apply the skills you learn. If you're doing it strictly from home and never go to meetings or anything, well...what's the point of being in scouts? You don't need to be a boy scout to do that stuff on your own.

  9. Actually yes, you can register as a lone boy scout.  On your renewal form, there is a place to check this option.  You will then complete the activities you would normally do at a den/pack or troop meeting at home, on your own.  However, you can still go camping, etc. and participate in other Council wide events.

However, if you are homeschooled, you can still participate in a Boy Scout Pack/Troop at a public school.  My son does.  Sometimes, it is just more fun when there are a group of boys involved-plus, for homeschoolers that opportunity for socialization is one of the benefits of homeschooling.

You are also able, whether you are public or home schooled, to complete additional projects on your own at home.  That means you could be a part of the group, and do the group activities, but also do some additional projects at home.  That is what we do, and a lot of them are incorporated into our lessons, etc.

    I hope this helps!
