Its about my house?

Question

I was in the utility room this morning and i looked on the wall and the was this miny door like the size of two hands put together. now there isnt any normal key that would fit it but it is like a square thingy that you put in it. Now there is one at my nanas house and she doesnt know what that is and i have only ever seen one of these in that house and then i noticed it this morning and im really confused on what it is.

also my nan said that she found some old papers on the desk

now please does anybpdy have any odea what ma be in there or what it is

It sounds like it might be the milk door....years ago milk was delivered to homes (glass quart bottles) and put in the cubby.

It's also possible that the utility room was once for coal .
