It’s all about performing as a team says http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JP-Duminy-c1742 –Cricket News Update
South African middle-order batsman, Jean- Paul Duminy explained that the only way to achieve success for the team is to perform as a collective unit.
He echoed the words of his new coach, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gary-Kirsten-c58527, who took over after a disappointing World Cup 2011 campaign, which saw the Proteas crash out of the tournament in the quarter finals.
A six month break followed, after which the team has locked horns with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 with a mix bag of performances, which included a share of the spoils in the T20s. They lost the first of the three-match ODI series – being thumped by their opponents by a margin
of 93 runs.
However, the team clawed back handsomely with a combined effort in the second match, where the left-hander’s contribution of 56 was key to the team’s charge of winning the game by 80 runs and effectively level the series with one game still to play.
Kirsten, who led the Indians to the World Cup triumph earlier in the year, has been seen as the man to guide the Proteas to supremacy in their pursuit of bigger accolades; however, Duminy said the new coach does not have a magical formula to get the side
to winning ways and therefore has backed him over his claims of performing as a collective unit.
“Gary pointed out, when we got together earlier in the year at Arabella, that he doesn’t have a silver bullet to help us win games. It is all about us as a team, as individuals, putting in performances. He can only guide us so much and it’s all up to us,”
he explained.
With a crunch final game still to be played, the left-hander believes that the team will approach the match same as any other, while backing his side to claim their first series win under their new coach.
“I don’t see it being any different from any other game. The way we prepare for the game will be totally the same. Hopefully we can put in another clinical performance like we did on Sunday,” he said.
The decider will be played at Durban on the 28th of October.
