They got swept by the Mets, lost 3 of 4 to the Giants and got man handled last night against the Red Birds. I mean, its not like they are playing all rookies or something like that! All there starters are in there, and I KNOW they are better than the way they are playing.

Its been a difficult season, don't get me wrong. But to give up when your being paid money that is astronomical, just isn't fair to your manager, it isn't fair to your team, and more than anything, its not fair to the faithful fans, that love the team so much they watch this bullshit the braves call baseball!

  1. Are you kidding? It was so obvious when they traded Texeira that they had officially given up on the season. They are preparing for next season. Which is the right thing to do right now.

  2. It is hard to play your best when you have no chance of going anywhere.  It is up to the players and Bobby Cox to push them to the highest level.

  3. As a Cubs fan I know they got swept by the Cubs as well, and I do agree with you. When you've had as many injuries as you've had then I think it's reasonable to be expected to limp through the rest of the season. They are definitely in rebuilding mode trading away Teixera. I mean, they have some good players and I think they should be able to compete next year and for years down the road.

  4. well they are playing for the future right now

  5. They gave up long ago when they traded away Mark Texeirra.

  6. The thing is, the players aren't the ones who gave up; management gave up when they traded Teixeira away.  Face it, 3/5's of the Braves' Opening Day starting rotation is now out with injuries.  The bullpen is in shambles.  This team needed to make that deal, to help them re-build.  Guys like Smoltz, Glavine are probably done after this season, or next season at the longest.  Chipper Jones won't be far behind them; his legs seem to be breaking down in front of us.  Teixeira was going to leave anyway via Free Agency, they did the best they could to salvage a really bad situation.

  7. Well in the postion there in (which is behind the Mets, Phillies and even the Marlins) they need to be playing for the future, which they are. They've traded Texeira for Kotchman, who has a couple years left on that contract, and for a Minor Leaguer, who I can name at the moment. Me being a Mets fan, I got to admit, the Braves were hit hard with injuries to Smoltz, Glavine, and Hudson. If they weren't, they'd probabbly be alot closer then thy are right now.
