  1. it could be because your not sleeping enough or because they are REALLY boring - if they are that bad you should try a lot of things like spraying cold water on yourself whenever u get 2 sleepy or maybe flick yourself on the forehead - this worked for me when i was listening to some old man babbling on about some random thing (cant even remember) for like 2 hours!! maybe you should drink coffee, coke or tea - believe it or not but tea has more caffeine than coffee! good luck with your sleep and exams

  2. To remain awake to brain washing maths problems. You have said that mathematics is easier for you so do some sort of difficult problems. There is one more solution do something which you like. For example:- web surfing. To get focused you think on something, like i think of a cell going through my veins. It makes me focus. Don't do the same for being focused but you can try many things which like. But take care while concentrating nothing is disturbing you and you have a peace of mind at that time. I myself am a tenth class student, I had also such kind of problems but the day I started doing this I am able to concentrate and you know now I stand first in the class. Try it. Give the results.....

  3. Do you wear glasses? Maybe you need to update your glasses.  The strain on your eyes may be making you sleepy.  I think if you eliminate the fact that your glasses are ok then I agree with a previous person about time management and fresh air.  Good luck.

  4. Yeah, taking a shower could do the trick. But if you really want to stay awake energy drinks or coffee. That would be quite unhealthy so i recommend you just get more sleep - It is the simplest solution.

  5. 2 words: Pepsi Max

    OR

    cold water

    OR

    hot water

    lol

  6. Well to start, don't wait until the last minute! If you can break down your studying into smaller chunks, it will be easier for you to focus on.  Also, rather than just reading, try to take notes on what you've read while you're doing it, just so that it keeps you focused and alert. You could even make flash cards of important information while you read to assist you in recalling what you're reading/studying.

You need to experiment to find what work for you. Personally, I'm a people watcher so going to the library doesn't work for me, but I have found that if I play my iPod with familiar music, I can tune it out and focus in on what I'm studying. I've also found that when I'm studying and using a highlighter, I'm more likely to pay closer attention and retain the information.

  7. We all have a tendency to feel bored and fall asleep when we are faced with doing something we don't want to do. I, too, used to find a text book was a guaranteed way to get to sleep quickly.

The first thing to do is step back and think about what you are doing. Do you really want to complete the course, or are you just going through the motions under the pressure of family expectations? Is there something else you want to do to build your future on?

If you do want to complete the studies think about other approaches. I decided to develop speed reading skills and what I did was to not try to learn what is in the text book first up, but to just speed read through it, skimming the subject and not trying to memorise anything. Then I'd do something else and come back to the book in the next day or two when I had consolidated the little that stuck first time through and let myself think about it  in the back of my head.. It was no longer totally unfamiliar, and less of a stress.

  8. Either do your sleeping before you begin to read, or, take notes while reading.

Take a short walk around the house when you feel drowsy. Never study longer than an hour without a five or ten minute break.
