  1. It could be a number of things. Did you check all the keys & springs on it? It could be something with the instrument itself, or you might not be controlling the mouthpiece right. Try a few different things & if nothing works then take it (it you're in a school) to your music director or a music store. Good luck!

  2. I am sure that you are not self taught.

    Go ask your teacher.

    Take the horn with you.

    Good Luck

    Horns are great.

  3. It could be any number of things;

    More info would help answer your question better;

    1. are you beginner or advanced?

    2. how long has this been a problem?

    3. have you looked at it carefully for leaks or blockages?

    The answer to most brass questions starts with air;

    either you have a blockage so air can't get through proper (when you blow into it does it feel stuffy?)

    or it has a leak, (easy to find if you know what to look & feel for)

    or somebody has jammed something into it,...

    or it could be a badly alligned valve (hard to diagnose if you don't know where/what to look for

    or you are just a beginner and have no idea how much air it takes to get a decent sound

  4. Well, it could be one of the valves.

    You could be way, way out of tune.

    You could be putting too much pressure on your upper lip.  This is probably it.  if you put less pressure on the top lip, the notes will come much easier, and you can go higher, too.

    Do you, or did you just get braces?  This can really mess up your sound for up to 2 months after getting the braces.  But it's nothing practice can't overcome.

    If all else fails, take it to the shop, they'll fix it for you.  And, most rental shops will fix your instrument for free as long as it's not something like, you ran over it with your car or something.
