I have a one year old ipod nano, and its been working fine untill today when i plugged my usb cable into the computer and connected the other end of it to my ipod. The prob. is that the computer is showing no recognition that the ipod is plugged in. So i can't sync songs into it ( i use itunes btw)

If you look on the ipod screen it says charging but the computer says that no device is plugged in. What do i do? pls help!

  1. just re-connect it a few times and it should work, otherwise, reset your iPod (by flicking to hold, then off of hold, hold down the menu, and the middle button) and then re-connect :)

    hope this helps!

  2. When that happens to me i just upgrade the iTunes.

i mean update...to the new version.

    Try that! :)

  3. hold the menu button and the Middle one, for like 10 seconds or so, and it would reset and work again.

  4. mine is doing this too =/

it told me to download the newer software

soo thats probably what im going to have to do.

  5. Maybe try another USB port on your PC, as dust can inhibit a solid connection. Try again, and then open iTunes and see if your device shows up, or you can always click on "My Computer" and see if it shows up as an external drive.

    That's what I would do...

Are you plugged into a USB hub? I had to "enable disk usage" in my iTunes device settings, to use my Nano 2nd gen. with a USB hub at work. :D Just curious...

  6. unplug it and try again.  i know you're probably scared of unplugging it without properly ejecting it, but it should be fine if iTunes doesn't recognize it.  so, unplug it and replug it... this should help.

  7. I personally have to use rubber bands to get it to sync. I put the rubber bands around the top of the iPod and then around the usb cord connected to the iPod. I do this on both sides. You may have to double-wrap it to get it to work.

    Here's a picture of it.
