I understand there are many branches of anthropology, but what degree do i have to get and how long will it take, 3 years, 4 years? 1. Well you can use some of your training in the military to add to your prerequisites just check with your adviser when you find a school you want to go to. I would do your research first and make sure that there is a job you can do first before you waste your time and find out you just got a useless degree you can't use in the real world. Make sure you get one you can use so it can feed you when your out of college the real world is a lot harder than the military and there are a lot less opportunities than you expect, but I hope that helps you in what ever you do good luck.

  2. cultural anthro will tell you about civilization and make you able to see trends in society you never noticed

psysical anthro will make you realize where humans came from and realize the cruelty of genetics.

  3. To realistically get a job you need at least a masters degree, which is usually around 2 years past your 4 year bachelors degree.  Depending on the particular branch you are interested in and what type of job you want will determine whether or not you need a PhD.  Also, many schools have good anthro departments, but again it depends on the branch you are interested in, some have greater specializations than others.  For your undergrad it doesn't matter quite as much as for graduate school.  Check out these sites for more info:
