Its said that the Russia/Georgian border dispute is a direct consequence of the Beijing Olympics... ?

We read that the Russia/Georgian border dispute was sparked by fact that Putin was in Beijing watching the Olympics, so Georgia took its chances and messed up big time.

But can you name other conflicts that have occured as a result of, or consequence of a major sporting event ? I seem to recall a war started in South America after a World Cup football match ?
