We are spending millions upon millions of dollars daily overseas. Which could easily be spent rebuilding our falling economy. Instead we are fading into a depression and are becoming prisoners to inflation. We are losing men and women daily for a cause, that I'm not even aware of. And to top it all off, we are making the rest of the world angry towards us. So, I'm simply asking, what do we win, even if the war is somehow won. Which I'm not sure if their can even be a solution to a non-existing problem.

  1. Another ally in the Middle East, meaning cheaper oil down the line and a foothold in the Middle East in any future contacts.

  2. I will not advocate or condemn this 'war' or occupation...But as far as the whole Sadaam thing goes...he wasn't just 'running' his country. They didn't call him the Butcher of Baghdad for nothing. And the whole WMD's...that's a whole other story.

But I will let my husband (if you are so inclined) explain to you his view on what HE'S fighting for...

He is on his 5th deployment

  3. Let me get this question right - What is in it for you?

A pretty typical respond for the kinder, gentler political party - wink, wink! We get an ally & no more terrorist attacks on US soil,  but more importantly they got their first democratic vote, the women get to be educated & not be punished for their male family members' crimes, we get to have at least slowed the terrorist organizations training & money supply. We stop Iran (yeah you know - the ones who help our Embassy & people hostage under Carter) & we get a job well done.

I get my son to come home after 15 months in Iraq.

  4. Another war. It will be demanded by the military/industrial complex to keep their profits flowing.

    No war = no money.

  5. You will never win. Even the other one you are losing ground on.

  6. The war has been over for a while now, this is a police action now, and the battle against terrorist can never be won, this being because terrorist are cowards who cause death and then run and hide, they have no Honor, but it is possible to slow them down and make some things safer.

  7. we're not gonna win, we lost when we went to iraq instead of afghanistan

  8. a starbucks gift basket

  9. Number one Saddam was a problem period I think you people are blind we have satellites in the air watching everyone single move. We know more than the UN knows, them going and searching Iraq for WMD did nothing for us because we already knew what was there. They didn't have them when the UN did the search but that doesn't mean they don't have them. If you're so against this then get out. I mean whatever happened to patriotism, oh yea the media ruined that.

  10. First of all it's not even technically considered a war and second of all it cannot be won.

  11. Oil reserves.

In the minuscule bush/cheney mind, blood is worth much less than crude oil - if it has any value at all.

  12. With any luck we may get another puppet government for the people to rebel against and burn our flag in effigy while they chant ,"American Satan". Our Foreign Policy is like a rabid bull in a china shop. This, of course, will justify yet more obscenely costly, military spending, aid for Israel and adventurism in the region- it never ends.

  13. we are freeing a people that were oppressed for a long period of time and afraid to do anythign for fear of reprisal. they hae a rigth to be free also. those men and women that died did not die in vain. they are living proof that we will overcome some day. we need to show the world that oppresion isn't the way to go. we need to show muslims we are good and upstanding people. we're not trying to take the country but help. we've done helped with schools, and all sorts of building and roads and bridges. we are not trying to down grade anyone and the entire world will see.

  14. The more allies we have in the middle east, the better. I don't want every Muslim in the world to hate the U.S., do you? If we pull out of Iraq too early and it falls into the wrong hands we would have just wasted all our time over there.

  15. what war?

us is keeping the peace in iraq with their security forces.

there are casualties in doing this 'noble task' because of the sectarian

violence supported by regional powers over there,

But cant be help,"oil"and we cant risk a hostile local government to take over,

so we may be there for next 20 yrs.

  16. first, we did win the war, but there are still things that need to be done to insure stability.

2nd, yes we are spending millions of dollars daily overseas, but you have to look at it a little deeper than that.  the military still costs money to run even when there is no war, so some of those costs are fictional, soldiers eat here, and they eat in iraq.  the cost also needs to be compared to the cost we would incure if things where to go bad over there, i guarantee you we would be laying out alot more money if we came home and had to return because another nasty dictator got in charge.

3rd, we are not going into a depression, we are not evenin a recession, this is dramatization.  i'm not saying things couldn't be better, they could, but we have no idea how good we have it.  a recession is 2 qtrs with negetive economic growth, last qtr we had positive economic growth.

4th.  the ammount of men and women we have lost in this whole operation is a lot less than were lost in a mutlitude of single battles during wwi, wwii, and the civil war.  any death is bad, but the death count for the size of this action, and for the ammount of success acheived is minimal.

5th.  if you are not aware of the cause you have been hiding under a rock, do you remember something about airplanes, buildings in the middle of new york?  i don't know, most of us considered that kind of a big deal.

    6. first i don't care if the rest of the world loves us or hates us, we are our own country, we do things to our standards, not some third world terrorist hangout.  besides that i don't believe we have made the rest of the world angry, you are a victim of propaganda.  most of the world loves us, and respects us.  we wern't the only country involved in this operation, i think there was 130 if i remember correctly, and more would have also joined if they were in a position to do so, you can't just make up facts.

    what we win is

1.we bring those to justice that attacked this country

2.we take several countries that were terrorist hangouts, and make it difficult for that activity to continue.

    3. we remove an insane genocidal ruler from power.

    4. we help these countries to form their own government, one that does not have rape rooms and plan the detruction of the u.s. and isreal for it's main objective.

    5. we secure good diplomatic relations with new leaders in an area that has been a hotbed for thousands of years.

    6. we take the best stab at bringing peace to the most troubled area in the world.

    7. we make friends with people who have a precious comodity, oil, which if they choose to sell it somewhere else, they switch the entire balance of world power.

    8. we show other freaks and renegade countries that you cannot attack the u.s, you will die if you do.

    9. we preserve our freedom, our way of life, and save your children from being beheaded because they don't believe the same way someone else does.

there are countless other reasons, like the hundreds of thousands killed in ethnic cleansing, the improvement in the iraquies lives, the vast improvement in the h**l called afghanastan, giving people choice over their own futures, etc.

  17. Green chip stamps.

Too bad they aren't worth anything, any more.

Sort of like our federal reserve notes...

  18. Im pretty sure this war will never be won. G bush has headed America to the point of no return, and only new good presidential leadership could lead us out of it. So , since this war will never be won, i say we just there for the oil, but thats not doing any good is it? prices are still rocketing way up there.

  19. Well, we potentially prevent a pan-Arabic war which means oil continues to flow from the Persian Gulf.  Fuel is not the big problem if oil stops flowing, plastic is the real problem.

Stability offers the world, not just the USA, a lot more then a regional or potential world war does.
