  1. Yep agreed. It also has a big fat head lol :P

but i get what your saying i mean how do they build up horses muscles like that it must be months of hard training everyday :O

If i figure out the answer i will be sure to tell you CCC.

I'll ask my mum's friend next time i see her and get back to you.

  2. As with a human, that much muscle is truly grotesque.

  3. Yo, that's craaaazzzy!!! haha. All those extremely muscular and beefy horses look like they are hopped up on steroids. Just as i think it looks ridiculous on humans, I think it looks stupid with any animal.

Ziggybad... WOW. That dog is crazy beefy! same with the cow... Haha thanks for posting that was a good laugh.

  4. wow that horse looks kind of mean, and your right, he is VERY musculer

  5. I have seen many that are not HYPP positive or carriers look beefy and have astounding muscle definition like the one you posted.... So WHY do people continue to breed HYPP positive horses?? The world may never know....

Ya wanna see muscle?? Check this out....

    **Edit**

I noticed that I didn't really say what I thought of the horse.... I've seen beefier ones around, but either way i think it looks unnatural and disturbing.

  6. I really think that horse looks like a cow.  Very ugly and the fact that it is HYPP N/H makes him worse.  They trace this back to lines of Impressive and it is Hyperkalemic periodic paralysis, here is a website with info http://www.vgl.ucdavis.edu/services/hypp...   Horses that do not carry the gene are HYPP N/N.   If this stallion is HYPP N/H he has a 25% chance of passing the gene on and should be gelded.  Sorry, but I have seen what this does to a horse with no warning, it is very sad.

  7. This horse is N/H, so it may not be normal.  But I agree, it looks like he's been bred for food, not riding.  He looks more like a beef cow than a cow horse.

  8. i know i saw that picture too on the stallion thing... i think it looks gross... and i don't like QHs that much either

  9. its because he's hypp n/h

people like to breed them because the can get grotesquely  muscled. Oh yeah, they can get really sick and die too, but at least they look good right? (sarcasm)

  10. Halter horses sadly like that stallion, they don't ever get to leave their stall. They are exercised a lot, but never allowed to be in the pasture. They are also fed alfalfa hay  to fatten the muscles. I should know, the farm i ride at has many halter horses, the owners have over 500 horses.

  11. my paint Peppys honky tonk  looks like that and he'sa gelding and no hypp breeding anywhere....it does happen....but hypp i think is assisting this one. google hypp impressive cookies..it shows a lot

where as my other paint (sad face) just looks average in the top line..

  12. For me I ride western on QH's and I HATE how that looks!!!!It makes me want to through up!This is the horse I ride and he has a pretty good confirmation and I would totally HATE it if he looked like the horse in that picture!I aint saying I am going against those that like that but in my opinion the horse looks stupid...

^ the horse I ride his name is Great Berry "Pine" if he didn't have his illnesses my instructor said she could sell him for $20,000.

  13. THESE HORSES ARE NEGITIVE FOR THE HYPP GENE

Most of these horses are halter horses and they come from the impressive line impressive was a horse that started hypp wich is a disese where the horse will be really bolky and muscular it also causes them to have siezures and eventually will kill them and it is horific it is the worst death amaginable for a horse if not fed right and given the preventative medicine which is costly and people breed there horses especialy to these studs to get the muscle and hope there foals aren't positive for the HYPP gene

    A horse can be

HYPP N/N which is double negitive and they do not have the gene

    HYPP N/H which is positive

HYPP H/H which is double positive and you can't even register these horses

  14. Well QH are a STOCK BREED! Stock also means stocky! And stocky means muscled, so they are suppost to look like that. All though he is really stocky i have seen that before.

  15. I always wondered how they get so muscly.  It is kind of scary.  They seem like such studs when they are all muscly and shiny.  This website says that it is just one of their characteristics.  Here is the link if you want to check it out.

Oh, but these horses that look like this for two reasons

    1. Most are stallions, so they have to look appealing to breeders.

    2.  They have to be in extremely good condition to be good at the sports they do.

edit:  Wow, I just learned something new today.  I didn't know it was some type of disease.  That's sad that it happens to horses.  Thanks for posting that website yellowsmilyfaces, now I can say that I finally learned something over the summer.

  16. Sorry but that just looks wrong.

Edit> if you want to know about HYPP google it there is tons of info on it. It is not pleasant.

  17. I think you guys are being miss lead. Breeders are trying to breed the HYpp out of the horses. In order to register a QH with the Impressive blood lines they must be tested and come out negative....thats what the N stands for. The UCDAVIS website that someone else posted explains. Im not sure if she read it very well because she said it was being bred into them. Thats a negative. It was an unknown problem when it started to occur and after many test and norrowing it down the realized it was deadly. Breeders do not want it, so anytime a horses breeding goes back to the Sire "Impressive" they put the test results so people know what they are getting

And those horses in the photos are Stallions that are in condition for peak breeding. They are halter bred so they breed them for their size. Even horses that have nothing to do with the HYPP can be bred to be that muscled. Stallions are always bigger and have thick necks. Its the testosterone.

  18. my quarter horse has as much muscle as that one has but he is a "bull horse"or a horse that is used on the ranch or rodeo for roping bulls and they get very big muscles.mine is hypp n/n so he doesnt carry the recessive gene found in some quarter horses that have the foundation of impressive.

  19. No not scarry. Just other peoples choices.... Myself I don't care for that much muscles. But each there own!

    ****edit*****

Ziggy~~~ Ohhh my those are awful!!!! LOL
