  1. Local knowledge is everything.

The advantage of a Pier is that it gives you access to deeper water - about 1 Hour before/after High Tide.

You dont state what species your after but I often have results when everyone else is fishing into the tide by putting bait in sheltered water areas on the 'inside' of the pier/curved jetty.

Alternatively find if possible a position on rocks /beach say 50/100M either side of a pier to present your bait- Piers tend to catch more fishermen than fish and from a fishes point of view its an Artillery Range out there......

    Best wishes.

  2. Just before sunset/sunrise,slack tide,1or2 days after a storm when the water is all stired up,or do a alnighter,it depends what species your chasing, talk to your local fishing shop dealer or talk to the older blokes fishing on the pier

  3. 2 hours before and after hi tide

  4. Try at night!
