It’s too early to take the next step, says AZ Alkmaar’s Adam Maher – Dutch Eredivisie news
Reports in Dutch and Spanish media indicate that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AZ-c38571 Alkmaar wonder kid, Adam Maher, has attracted interest from Barcelona FC following his good performance this season. However, the youngster has stressed that he has yet to learn a lot before taking the
next step in his career.
The 18-year-old midfielder is a product of AZ youth academy and started his professional career at the Alkmaar outfit in the 2010/11 season, managing to make two appearances while hitting the back of the net once.
However, the young box-to-box midfielder made rapid growth in his game and has now developed into a key player for AZ. The highly-rated youngster has made 12 appearances in all competition thus far this season, scoring two goals while providing three assists
as well. His good performances have not gone unnoticed, as the Catalans giants are keenly observing the 18-year-old’s development.
Maher has stressed that he wants to further develop his skills before making his dream move to one of the elite European clubs.
“Mr. Pep will have seen me. If I continue to develop my skills, I can get there. But it’s too early to take the next step”, the midfielder said while talking to the Dutch media.
Maher’s father revealed that the 18-year-old has remained linked with the likes of Manchester City, AC Milan and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/U-17-Youth-team-c40787. He also stressed on the fact that a move to Barca at this point of his career will ruin his
rapid development.
“He was linked with Lyon, Manchester City and AC Milan. But it is still too early for the next step. He should play at AZ for the next two to three years”, Maher’s father said while talking to the journalists.
The 18-year-old midfielder has an ongoing contract with AZ that will keep him at AFAS Stadion until the summer of 2015. Pundits suggest that the youngster should consider playing for the outfit from Alkmaar for the next three years before taking the next
step in his career.
AZ are currently comfortably sitting atop the pile, six points ahead the second placed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/PSV-c40281 Eindhoven.
