If everyone cut back just one day a month, not even a week, supply and demand laws will cause the gas to come down. So far few have done it. I see gramma, young ding a ling 30ish mom, tea club attendee, card players all driving down the boulevard one person per SUV driving down to Plaid Pantry for their daily paper, then coffee with the girls, and over to see mom, There is little organization to take care of several tasks on trips. All this waste will raise the prices....we need to think things out on every trip likes its a planned journey. What are you willing to do to do your part to cut back? Every suggestion will help and might help someone else to take action even in a small way...thanks!!!!!

  1. I've been doing this for quite a few years. Both my cars get over 30 miles per gallon. One gets 30 the other gets 38-40. Sure they're not the prettiest on the road. But they're efficent and kept well tuned. But I sure see alot of Escalades other big SUVs and gas guzzling V-8s no matter what year. It makes me think we Americans aren't taking this seriously enough yet. And it didn't just happen over night. Wake up folks. We have seen the oil gluttons and they are us. It doesn't make much sense too me to take these steps, as described. Only to have somebody else burn three times as much fuel as I do.

  2. I've been cutting back over a year. I burn waste vegetable oils for a $1. a gal.

  3. A lot of the suv's have gotten traded in. You see more typical sedans now. People are buying more economical cars. They are making less trips to the stores. They have lowered their thermostats at home. Use of public transportation is up and climbing.

The reward.........$4 a gallon and still climbing. Oil companies are making record profits? Their punishment? Fatter & fatter pensions for oil executive retirees.

Shall people just walk? Turn off the heaters? Stop using electricity? How about stop eating? Food prices are outrageous too.

Until people get off their butts and start fighting hard with Washington, the politicians, get the top oil executives back in line,  stop meddling in middle eastern politics by trying to shove democracy down the throats of people who don't want it, we are at their mercy.

We can't boycott oil. It just isn't possible. We need to start drilling here at home regardless of who it pisses off. We need to fix our antiquated refineries, and build a lot more.

Blaming the average person is a waste of time, and a lame excuse for not doing more here at home to become less dependent. It's also lame to blame the average person for poor middle eastern policies that pissed off the very people we depend upon almost entirely.

Our "leaders" have taken us down to wrong road for too long. Our direction needs to change, or the sky is the limit on how much we will be charged, because it is not regulated. It's a free market.

  4. I believe we can cut down on gas by these methods:

Developing car pools in our neighborhoods, jobs, families and opting for public transportation if we can, cutting down monies spent on gas...

However in this world that we live in, and since big business is about money and profit... if we did that.... they'd simply raise the price of gas or something else to compensate for their loss of profits.

Take the tobacco company, due to suits they raised the cost of cigarettes and yes the lost money THAT WAY, but what most consumers don't know is that the tobacco companies is owned by NABISCO and other parents companies that sell diapers, laundry soap etc... so they simply raised the prices on cookies, crackers, diapers etc...

Which I find is TOTALLY  unfair in that I am a non smoker, yet I am paying more for my food, due to the money grubbing ways of the tobacco industry and its partner in crime Nabisco.

There is no way to escape high prices on anything, EXCEPT to make your self COMPLETELY independent of big business at EVERY level, for they are all interconnected and WILL find a way to recoup their losses either by raises prices in other holdings or by paying off politicians to create bills and laws in which they can pay less taxes, ergo making US pay more taxes....

THAT  is why they go to school for 4 plus years to find out the many ways to rob the public and still be able to stay in business...

  5. if you don't buy gas one day you will just need more the next day

  6. another way to lower gasoline price, we would have to favor one gas company .  and annoying all other gasoline stations.    this will create a competitive gas price.

  7. believe me we're all cutting back. No not forget alot of products are made from petroleum
