Itunes card to buy iphone/ipod touch apps?

well last christmas my friend she got me an itunes card.. thinking i could use it to buy apple products like headphones lol but as we soon found out we could only buy stuff on itunes and yeah.. i dont usually buy music on itunes.. so i was wondering.. when the app store opens for iphones/ ipod touch do you think i can use the itunes card to buy apps? since apple is selling the apps over the air and through itunes.. or do you think itunes cards will still be restricted to music and videos? thanks in advance

the app store will be a new feature of the itunes store, and you will be able to buy the apps with a itunes gift card

the apps will only work on a ipod touch or iphone so...
