I'm trying to burn music onto blank cd's, but I keep getting a message, "please insert a blank disk". I know these are blank disks because I just brought them and they're straight out of the package. Why is this happeiing? They are cd-r's.

  1. take it out and try again, otherwise it's not itunes it's the disc reader on your computer, the laser is probably burnt out

  2. You have to change your settings in itunes, so that it recognizes the correct disk drive.  Do you have more than one disk drive?  I would double check the settings. Edit menu - Preferences - Advanced tab - burning.  Hope that helps

  3. If they're definitely CD-Rs, then there are three ways this could be happening.

    1) The CD-Rs are faulty. Try a different batch/brand of CD-Rs.

    2) Your CD burner isn't working with your computer. Can you burn CDs with a different program? If not, you may have to look up the make and model of your cd drive and reinstall the drivers by downloading them at some place like driverguide.com

    3) Your computer has a CD reader, and not a CD BURNER. If your CD is less than 8 years old, the odds of this are extremely unlikely.

Also, try making sure that the CD is facing downward, meaning that the part that looks very colourful, is downward, and the surface that has any artwork, image, or writing on it (the brand of the CD, for instance) is pointing up.
