Last month my laptop of three years completly died on me (motherboard died) and I bought a new computer. I installed itunes and have begun the process of putting back all of my songs, however there is one problem.

I purchased 41 songs using my old account from the Itunes store. I have activated my new computer and done a check for purcahses and reregistered my account on this laptop. However, none of the songs I bought are showing up. How can I get them to show up. Getting them from a disk on my old laptop is out of the question since its dead and can never be restarted. Help!

  1. There are two things that you can try. Number one plug in your ipod into itunes and one of the options will pop up saying to transfer your purchased music to your computer, this is what worked for me. Number two call up itunes and they will help you retain your music. They are very customer loyal there.

  2. You should use the same iTunes account on the new computer.  Your iTunes account is with Apple - not the "laptop".  Computer changes, Apple account does not.  You should do the following - log onto iTunes on the new computer using the old account.  Go to your account info on iTunes and "deauthorize" all computers.  The effect here is to deauthorize your old computer which you can no longer use.  Apple doesn't know it's dead.  Then authorize your new computer (under "store" pull down menu) for the old account.

Then when you plug your iPod into the new computer the 41 songs should be copied from the iPod to the new computer.
