can some one please tell me why british commentators always put the homeland teams down when they are commentating on them rather than picking up on all the bad points why dont they praise their good points and stop being over biased to the other team.

please answer truthfully because weve all seen and heard it.

  1. Who knows?

It's one of lifes greatest mysteries. I think that the problem is that they are constantly harking back to the glory days of British sport, and it just annoys them that they arent as good as they used to be.

You will probably notice it doesnt just happen in rugby, every sport, even tiddlywinks (probably) has this problem.

  2. I think they just lack the skill to call the game as it is unfurling in front of them. They make me quite sick actually - so much going on that they either don't see or just don't expect to happen. I often have to turn the volume down and tune in to a radio broadcast. I don't want to hear their lame opinions or attitude - just want them to call stuff not being picked up by the camera, all the off screen stuff that we can't see.

NZ and RSA seem to cop a lot of flack - guess it is to be expected - when you are ranked high you are easy to bring down. And when your the under-dog it's easy to be talked up.

For my money the Australian commentators do the best job in the world - they were brilliant at the last cup

  3. ok the Aussies and to an extent NZ commentators are terribly biased, especially the Aussies. If any event is going to benefit Australia, you better believe you will hear a lot of support and backing for that.

  4. ...actually the truth is that ALL commentators are terrible.  It doesn't matter where you live in the world.  After the England Tonga game there was asbolutely nothing in the NZ press or TV about England winning - even the news presenter said 'you would think Tonga had won'.  However we did get to hear about Dan Carter's knee injury, Sione Lauaki's suspension, Steve Hansen's breakfast.. or whatever.  Be honest, if they talked about opposing teams in positive lights everyone would accuse them of being non-patriotic.  Everyone loves to rubbish the English and even the English do it themselves!  It's why you all love us underneath your veneer of vitriole.

  5. This lot are the  worse bunch of commentators I have ever heard in my life, with the exception to Eddie Butler!

The BBC should have had the rights to RWC!

  6. i see the match and then turn over.i dont like the build-ups nor the post-mortems.what is done is done ,end of story.

  7. i watch it with the sound turned down

was told that if you had listened to the commentary of the scotland v italy game you would never have guessed scotland had won , as all they did was say how bad scotland were

    all the best
