Yuliya Yefimova snares Women’s 100m breaststroke gold – Swimming news
Yuliya Yefimova of Russia snared gold medal in the event of Women’s 100m breaststroke on third day of the Swimming events at the 2013 World University Games in Kazan, Russia on Friday, July 12.
The Russian swimmer stifled hopes of her challengers in the double lap breaststroke discipline as she cruised her way towards the finishing end for the title. With her astonishing pace, she remained in a prominent lead over her competitors and reached the
wall for gold medal.
She enjoyed a two body length lead over her following swimmer and surfaced on the finishing end for first position by producing an effort of 1 minute and 05.48 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Fiona Doyle of Ireland, who was 2.18 seconds slower from her preceding swimmer and surfaced on the finishing end for bronze medal by posting a time of 1 minute and 07.66 seconds.
The second best finisher was chased by Laura Sogar of USA, who was only 0.12 seconds slower and stepped on the finishing end for bronze medal by touching the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 07.78 seconds.
The third best finisher was chased by Tera Colleen Van Beilen of Canada, who was 0.25 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and captured bronze medal of the race by posting an effort of 1 minute and 08.03 seconds.
Fifth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Giulia De Ascentis of Italy, who was only 0.37 seconds slower and surfaced on the finishing end by producing an effort of 1 minute and 08.03 seconds.
Sixth spot of the event was obtained by Mio Motegi of Japan, who was 0.14 seconds slower and surfaced on the finishing end by clocking a time of 1 minute and 08.40 seconds.
Seventh position of the event was obtained by Suyeon Back of Korea, who was only 0.65 seconds slower and tapped the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 09.18 seconds.
Eighth position of the race was obtained by Mariia Liver of Ukraine, who was 0.29 seconds slower and touched the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 09.47 seconds.
Furthermore, the position holders received medals and accolades after the race.
