  1. Clean the yard of debri and p**p.

Try hanging cotton balls around in trees and windows.  The flies think they are spiderwebs and leave

  2. There is a product called Bronco. It was made for horses, but my vet recommended it to me years ago for my dogs. You can spray it on your dog and all around the yard. When I first started buying it I had to go to a feed store, but now they sell it at wal-mart and it even has for dogs on the label too.

In addition to using bronco you also, as the others have already said, need to clean up the poo.

  3. I had the same problem this year, especially in the spring. So since they are attracted to strong odors, and I have 2 large male dogs, I had to start sacrificing time on the weekends and in the mornings. Also to help prevent fly strike on my boys I started using the K9 Advantix instead of Frontline, as the Advantix helps to repell flies and mosquitos. But the main thing I had to do was (and you can't be afraid of work):

    1)  I got a plastic 2 gallon pump sprayer from home depot, its supposed to be for pouring weed killer into, but I use it for other things like this, I pour a huge squirt of dish soap and a little splash of bleach in it, and fill with water, and on the weekends would soak down my entire yard in the morning (with the dogs putup in the garage or the house) I did this in the morning so the sun would dry the yard up then I could let the boys back out. The soapy mixture helped to get rid of strong urine smells. However with my yard it took an hour to soak the whole thing. Anyways the amount of bleach was just enough to barely smell it in the container, and I had to refill a few times for the size of my yard.

    2)  EVERY morning before work I get a plastic grocery bag and go and clean up ALL poo poo I see. The flies love the poo poo!!

    3) A few times a week I would hose the yard down with just water to rinse away any urine build up.

    4) I hung a flie trap away from them, in a far corner of the yard, and it filled up fast, but I am debating on whether or not it just attracts flies to it and shows other flies where my yard is.

Doing this for a while will get make your yard less odorous (even if we humans can't smell some things, dogs and flies can) and less attractive to flies. After a few weeks I still saw a few flies, but it was a huge, major improvement!! Good luck!
