Iv been taking iron,How long will it take to kick in?

I have green around my mouth and i read somewhere that it could be cuz I'm low in iron and I'm wondering how long ill it take for the green to go away? Will it be gone before school?? Iv been taking it for 4 days..

You should only take iron if your blood has been tested and it is discovered that it is low in iron.  If you take iron and you don't need it, you can actually develop blood clots because iron thickens the blood. If the iron level is really low, you should start to feel better in a few days.  You doctor should have told you when to come back so they can re-test the iron level of your blood. I have never heard that green around the mouth is a sign of low iron, are you sure you haven't been eating a lot of green food? I have always heard if you feel tired all the time and sluggish that is a sign of low iron.   Just remember to listen to the doctor, and don't take too much iron, too much iron can cause death.  You can also eat iron rich foods like liver (yuck) and red meat and green vegetables.

See your family doctor about your green mouth and to have your blood iron checked.  You should not take an iron supplement unless you have been diagnosed as anemic by your doctor.
