i have literally just bought a brand new full set of Mizuno MP57, i was getting along great with them, however whilst hitting out of a fairway bunker i managed to chip the sole of my pitching wedge, must have been a stone, its quite nasty and made a noise which made me shiver! now these are brand new and im very dissapointed with whats happened. i understand its not the manufacturers fault and its not really anyone elses fault, but what can i do know?? the club is still useable i guess but it really is quite a deep chip.

any answers will be greatly appreciated.

  1. Oh, man....so sorry to hear that, my fellow MP-57 player. I just bought a new set of MP-57 last month....and can't even bring it out to the course without those tacky iron covers on....because I know these will rattle inside the bag and will get banged up pretty badly. They're just so shiny and pretty....and well, you know what I mean.

They are forged and are more prone to chip and nick. I don't know if Mizuno will send you a brand new club since the club was nicked during normal play. The good news is that there are several Mizuno-recommended refinishing companies where you can ship your pitching wedge to. Mizuno doesn't refinish their own clubs, but here is a list of companies that specialize in refinishing.

The Iron Factory (irons only) www.theironfactory.com 866-711-4766

    The GolfWorks (woods / irons) www.golfworks.com 800-848-8358

Black Oxide Service Inc (putters / wedges) www.blackoxideservice.com 760-744-8735

If I were in your shoes, I would definitely give these guys a call.

Again, sorry to hear about your MP-57.......but don't ya just love the buttery feel of this club? :-)

  2. Just sent one back to mizuno and they sent me a brand new 5 iron with no questions asked.  It was my fault it was cracked.

  3. call manufacture people/ your honest approach may get you a new stick.

  4. You say you hit a PW out of a fairway bunker. Why would u do that.Sounds strange to me. If you are just trying to get out of the bunker, why not hit a Sand Wedge.?If you were going for the Green, you must have hit the T ball 250 to 300 yds. And have a long approach shot. ..........Take smooth file and file it smooth and forget about it. It happens alot, Will not effect playability.

  5. It never fails that putting a new set of irons or woods into play results in a ding or a major scrape in one of the clubs. If the bump is on the face of the club, file it off with a metal file or have the pro shop do it. You want nothing on the face which could distort a shot. If it is a gouge on the sole and doesn't effect the face, file it smooth  to eliminate any unnecessary resistance. You used the club. The ding happened on your watch. Live with it. Worse things could have happened.

  6. Contact Mizuno. they will ship you out a new one, and you will send that one back in.  No questions asked.

  7. The chip on the club is not important.  Where did the shot out of the bunker go?  Clubs are just the tools you use to shoot the lowest score.  Little scars like that are going to happen, file it down and live with it.
