  1. No, it is not.  There's certain vitamins and supplements added to pet foods that cooked meats to not contain - such as Taurine.  Canned food also contains a lot of moisture that plain meat lacks which is vital for proper organ function.

What sort of canned food are you giving her?  And what sort of dry food are you giving her?  Both need to be quality foods - not dry food made mostly of corn or wet foods such as Friskies or store brands - those are garbage.  The dry food you give your cat should be a meat-based food with little to no grain.  Innova Evo, PetCurean Go! Natural and Blue Buffalo Wilderness are all really good ones.  For canned foods try Weruva, Tiki Cat, Innova Evo, Felidae or Merricks.  Fancy Feast makes a "Selects" brand (look for the turquoise blue cans) that most cats seem to like.  You can try feeding your cat that food and then transition it to one of the better ones.

  2. They play dirty. Many dry foods have an animal fat coating on them which besides the carbs can make the foos somewhat addicting. Here is a site trying to give advice on how to change your cat over to wet

You also may want to consider a raw food diet. Email me for links if interested

Goo for you for doing your research. Lack of moisture in the food, carbs and grains are huge problems with dry foods. adding water makes things worse, Best of luck

  3. Actually I disagree. I have one cat that's 16+ and she's only eaten dry food and never had a UTI. My other cat (RIP) made it to 16 only on dry food without ever having a UTI as well. Wet food can cause dental problems since it gets stuck to their teeth while dry food can help scrape their teeth clean. My elderly cats weren't big fans of wet food either. If your cat doesn't want wet food, then you shouldn't worry. Besides, once they develop a taste for wet food, they typically refuse dry food and then you have a different problem. Your supplemental meats are probably more than enough for Kitty!

  4. our vet says that any kind of food is fine as long as your pet is getting the nutrition that it needs. as long as she drinks plenty of water she has the moisture that she needs.  hope this helps.

  5. Wet food is definitely better. Here's some advice on transitioning picky cats: http://www.catinfo.org/#Transitioning_Dr...

Also, most of the brands you've tried are low quality cat foods. I'd recommend trying a higher quality brand.

Examples of low quality foods to avoid: Anything you can find in a grocery store will be low end, Purina, Iams, Eukanuba, Science Diet, Royal Canin, Whiskas, Fancy Feast, Friskies, Meow Mix.

Examples of high quality foods to look for: Innova, Wellness, Solid Gold, Felidae, Fromm Four Star, Merrick, GO Natural, Nature's Variety Prairie, Nature's Logic, Artemis Fresh Mix, Timber Wolf Organics.
