Ivan Garcia obtains Men’s 10m Platform title: Day four – 2011 Pan American Games
Ivan Garcia of Mexico outperformed his rivals by winning gold medal of Men's 10m platform final on the concluding day of diving events at the 2011 Pan American Games. The meet completed on Saturday, October 29 at the Scotiabank Aquatics Center in Guadalajara, Mexico
The Pan American Games are one of the major international events, which attract participation of numerous world-wide athletes.
Garcia was the crowd's favourite diver for the crown of the 10m discipline, as he proved his talent by clinching the gold medal of Men's 10m platform individual event, earlier at the championship.
The 18-year-old Garcia overwhelmed his opponents in the first round by achieving a score of 89.10 points. He was followed by his compatriot, Rommel Pacheco, who remained 2.70 points behind him, gathering a score of 86.40 points in the foremost round. 
He continued his exhausting efforts in the second round, where he smothered frenzy efforts of his team-member by scoring 183.45 points. Meanwhile, Pacheco remained 26.75 points away from him and accumulated 156.70 points.
The 18-year-old shattered hopes of his challenger in the third round, where he extended his lead to 39.15 seconds, gaining a score of 280.65 points. On the other hand, Pacheco earned a score of 241.50 points in the third round.
Later on, Pacheco presented his skills in front of the aquatic crowd by lowering Garcia's lead to 16.05 points. Garcia managed to score 353.25 points whereas his team-mate attained 337.20 points.
The lead was cut down to 9.30 points by Pacheco in the fifth round, where he obtained 436.20 points as opposed to Garcia's 445.50 efforts. 
Nevertheless, the arena experienced breath-taking performance of Garcia in the final round, where he demonstrated his gruelling efforts by gaining a score of 553.80 points for gold medal.
With his splendid efforts, he remained 45.60 points ahead of Pacheco, followed him on the podium for the silver medal with a total of 508.20 points. The podium was completed by Colombia's Sebastian Villa, who ended third by achieving 471.05 points.
Furthermore, the session ended after completion of all diving events while the medals were awarded to podium finishers after completion of the session.
