Ivan Khodabakhsh new CEO at Ladies European Tour
The Ladies European Tour has announced its decision to appoint Ivan Khodabakhsh as the latest Chief Executive Officer for the Ladies European Tour, starting January the 1st, 2013. He will be replacing Alexandra Armas, who currently CEOs the Tour.
Ladies European Tour Chairperson Karen Lunn said in a prepared press briefing that Khodabakhsh was a “unanimous” and “excellent” choice of the Board.
She disclosed that there had been a hundred other aspirants to the office besides Khodabakhsh, but the decision in hiring him had been obvious from the get go.
She expressed the Board’s belief in the vision he held in morphing the Ladies European Tour to a finer body dedicated to the furtherance of women’s golf.
“I would also like to place on record our appreciation of the excellent job that Alexandra Armas has done for us and wish her every success in the future”.
She said, “Alexandra advised us in March this year of her intention to step down and she has been of great help during the recruitment process of her successor”.
Armas said that she had “thoroughly” enjoyed the role she had been entrusted with for the past decade or so. She called it a fulfilling and rewarding experience.
She also stated that she was “happy with all” she had accomplished at the Ladies European Tour during her time there.
She said now was perhaps the better time for her to seek out more challenging experiences and wished Khodabakhsh the best for his future in the Ladies European Tour.
Khodabakhsh comes with a career in executive-officing a great number of sports that include World Series boxing out of Switzerland. Lunn told the media persons available at the event that his expertise will be a “huge asset” for the game.
Khodabakhsh, clearly pleased with the news, had this to say:
“I am really thrilled to be appointed by the challenge of growing the tour which that will benefit the players, sponsors and engage fans of women’s golf. There is huge potential for growth in women’s golf, especially considering the inclusion of the sport
in the Olympic programme”.
