Ivan Lendl keeps a poker face about Andy Murray’s Wimbledon campaign – Tennis News
Former world number one, Ivan Lendl, is not giving any sort of input about world number four, Andy Murray’s, performance in Wimbledon. He is stubborn with his poker face and denies commenting a single line about the Scot until
and unless he achieves the long lasting milestone of winning a maiden Grand Slam. Murray is in the fourth round of the Wimbledon Championships and plays the Croatian number one, Marin Cilic, in the hunt to book a spot in the last eight of the tournament.
Lendl has been coaching the Scot for quite some time but hasn’t witnessed his trained performer with any title glory in his reign. It will be a sweet gift for the American legend from the struggling Scot if he manages to win the
Wimbledon Championships this season. However, it is not going to be an easy route for him especially with the likes of Swiss Maestro, Roger Federer, and the reigning Wimbledon Champion, Novak Djokovic, eyeing to put their hands on the gold.
Some comments that were made Lendl were, “I've had a lot of training for it with my girls playing golf (they are top-class college players in America), following them or caddying for them. I've never showed any emotion because
it can transfer to the players. It's served me well with my daughters and I don't see this as being any different. Yes, Murray's a man and they were just children and this is a higher level, but the principle to me is just the same."
Lendl who won eight Grand Slam titles in his supreme era was brought in this year by the Briton number one to help groom for a major title. There has been no glory so far but there is still time for Lendl to equip Murray with some
tips that can help him supersede the players like Spanish number two, David Ferrer, world number three, Roger Federer, and number one Serb player, Novak Djokovic. He has always struggled against them and not to forget the Spanish tennis ace, Rafael Nadal,
who was the victim of a stupendous upset by the Czech tennis professional, Lukas Rosol, in the second round.
