Ivan Lendl talks about his junior academy in South Carolina – Tennis News
Former world number one, Ivan Lendl decided to pay back to his country which made him one of the best players in the world. He started an academy in August 2011 that trains those youngsters that want to pursue their career in tennis.
Talking about his academic experience and his post-retirement activities, Lendl said, “I enjoy it. I have enjoyed it with my kids and golf, and I enjoy with other kids and tennis.”
This academy is situated in South Carolina and nurtures the junior upcoming tennis stars. There might be a player that will rule the world and transform the meaning of tennis in his era just like Lendl did in three different decades.
51-year-old is extremely happy at performing such a task that accomplishes his duty to the nation and fulfils his long lasting dream of running an academy.
He teaches skills about tennis but that’s not the only thing he is looking for, he is also concerned about the health and fitness of all the new generation upcoming stars as well. Special diet plan and exercises are prescribed
to the youngsters and also observed during the training sessions to build them into world class athletes.
Adding more about his academy and young players, he said, I just love it when kids do sports," he said. "It keeps them out of trouble. It teaches them values. It teaches them fairness. It teaches them hard work. What more do you
want to ask?"
It seems like former world number is not done with tennis at all and plans to leave a mark on to this world with some outclass performers that will leave his academy and land at the professional tennis courts with one aim, to win
the match and nothing else.
Talking about some important tennis skills required to overpower the rival, he stated, “I guess timing is everything.” It is good to see that legends are stepping in to train the youngsters with some breathtaking skills and providing
tips on how to handle a pressure situation. The world is getting faster and faster, players are losing their temper and getting frustrated too easily that is allowing the evergreen performers to hold on to their positions firm enough.
Top three in the world of tennis hasn’t seen much change due to lack of passion and homework by the other superstars that prove to be their downfall. It will be interesting to see how long will it take for a legend like Lendl to
create a superstar and land him in the world of tennis.
