The Borussia Dortmund winger is targeting to cement his place in the first team next season and is confident of proving his worth.
Dortmund secured the signing of Ivan Perisic from Belgian side Club Brugge last summer for a reported fee of €5 million. The player had a sensational 2010-11 campaign with his former side as he scored a staggering 22 league goals
in 37 appearances made.
However, the Croatian international’s first season at the Signal Iduna Park was not what the player would have expected. The 23-year old made 27 league appearances, most of which were as a substitute, scoring seven times in the
process.
Perisic is aiming to get more playing time this time around. The winger is confident that the manager will provide him with the chances to prove his worth in the upcoming campaign and willing to fight for his place in the first
team.
The attacker is keen to make use of the opportunities coming his way in the next season and wants to be a regular part of the side. He revealed that the manager has supported him throughout and is now working on the advice of the
tactician to improve as a player.
“The season will be long; we will have many games. I hope that I will play more frequently than I did last year. The most important thing I have learned from Jurgen Klopp is the way in which I must defend, and also how I should
conduct myself if we lose the ball,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
Furthermore, the Croat played down claims that the arrival of Marco Reus would affect his place. The player hailed the signing and admitted that Reus could turn out to be a dream signing as he has the quality to score many goals.
“I think he is an excellent player. Marco is fast, technically strong and dynamic. It is very positive news for us that he has been signed. We will see what effect this has on the squad; Marco can play in all offensive positions,”
he concluded.
