Ivan Silva leads wet Free Practice 2 session at Sepang circuit – MotoGP news
Ivan Silva of Avintia Blusens registered the fastest lap at the Sepang circuit after heavy showers. The wet circuit restricted most of the riders from testing their bike and only 13 riders chose to test their bike.
Heavy showers ruined the FP2 of the Malaysian Grand Prix and most of the rider chose not to go for testing their bike over the circuit. The 13 riders who went to test their bike could not push to the maximum capacity of the bike and remained restricted to
295.9 km/h. The fastest speed was attained by Roberto Rolfo of Speed Master.
The fastest time to complete the Sepang circuit during the first day of practice still remains with Dani Pedrosa of Repsol Honda as he completed his lap in 2 minutes and 1.621 seconds in the Free Practice 1 session.
The second position in the FP2 was attained by Michele Pirro who completed his fastest lap in 2 minutes and 12.043 seconds. The riders did not push to the maximum capacity of their bike remaining cautious for the next two days.
Nicky Hayden of Ducati who had been complaining about his bike in the last Japanese Grand Prix decided to test his bike at the wet circuit however he did not push it hard as he could only achieve a speed 271.4 km/h while his teammate, Valentino Rossi, attained
a top speed of 291.7 km/h.
There are still 2 races to go after the Malaysian Grand Prix and the sport is getting interesting because Casey Stoner is back to race and he managed to finish the FP1 at the Sepang circuit at 2nd position thus pushing the championship leader, Jorge Lorenzo,
at the 3rd position. The Yamaha bike is not performing impressively in comparison with the Honda bike. The fastest speed during the FP1 was attained by Stoner who achieved a top speed of 323.5 km/h whereas the top speed attained by Lorenzo’s bike was 322.1
km/h.
The layout of the Sepang circuit is expected to support high top speeds of riders because of the two long straights. There are corners as well but slow corners are a few. Let’s see who wins the Malaysian Grand Prix scheduled in two days from now.
