Ivanovic’s new coach – how is it going?

It’s early days yet, but how is Ana Ivanovic’s new coach Heinz Gunthardt working out?

I agree that Ivanovic is a long way from the form she was riding at this time in 2008, and maybe how she performs under her new coach is make or break for the Serb's career. But shouldn't we give it just a little time before writing Ivanovic off for good?

I don't think the poor girl's going to make it back to the top of the rankings. She hasn't beaten a player of note for many months; and has lost ground on fast-improving, younger players as well as her peers since the start of her injury problems

Ivanovic has posted in her online diary, on her website, that “Things are going well: I am learning a lot from him, and I’m feeling more confident about my game”. Ivanovic will play her first tournament under his tutelage at the exhibition Billie Jean King Cup in New York tonight, where she faces Kim Clijsters in the semi-finals.
